Exhibits & Projects Intern - Summer 2024 - PAID INTERNSHIP
Position Summary:
This program offers interns hands-on exhibit & project management experience alongside the Exhibits & Projects Department. Interns learn about and assist with the quality control of Georgia Aquarium’s existing exhibits as well as the design, production and installation of new ones.
The internship is a two-part program which allows the participant to grow from shadowing the Graphics, Audio/Visual & Projects team members followed by the opportunity to design a new exhibit or enhance a current one. This internship will give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields where they are considering pursuing careers.
Responsibilities:
Daily responsibilities include:
- Assisting with morning quality control inspections of all galleries & guest areas including the parking deck, East Pedestrian Walkway (EPW) & Aquarium entrance
- Inputting any issues found during inspections into departmental Excel checklist
- Assisting with the preparation of materials for new exhibit, A/V or graphic installations as needed
- Assisting with new exhibit, A/V or graphic installations as needed
- Participate in any departmental meetings, discussions or activities
- Attending all GAI Training Department seminars
- Working on internship project
Qualifications:
- Working towards degree in industrial design, architecture, interior design or exhibit design
- Basic knowledge of Vectorworks, AutoCad, or CAD related software
- Proficiency with Microsoft software (OneDrive, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Must be self-motivated and a team player
- Interns must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- This is an experience-based, paid internship.
