Employer Relations Assistant: 2019-2020

Job Summary:
All student staff are essential to the daily operations of the University Career Center, which provides career services to all 6,800 Georgia College students. The Student Assistant for Employer Relations works closely with the Assistant Director for Employer Relations and Internships to ensure the needs of employers are met, including job/internship postings, resume collections, career fair participation, and other means of recruitment. This position will also assist in establishing new employer contacts in order to provide more career opportunities for GC students.

Essential Duties:
  • Assist with job and internship postings in the University Career Center database
  • Assist the Assistant Director for Employer Relations with projects related to new and existing employer outreach and engagement
  • Attend weekly staff meetings as well as designated training days
  • Assist with transition from Career Connection to Handshake platform
  • Outreach regularly to students with information related to jobs and internships
  • Works closely with Student Marketing Assistant to ensure all information sessions and employer recruiting events are marketed effectively
  • Represent the Career Center by assisting with career fairs and other large events
  • Establish relationships and collaborate with faculty, staff, students in their respective majors, student organizations, and university departments to help them learn how the Career Center can help them or their students and to present career workshops as requested

Expectations:
  • Complete weekly assigned office hours. Hours per semester may vary depending on office need and number of events
  • Attend all training sessions and regular meetings
  • Arrive on time for office hours
  • Maintain an office notebook with training materials and notes on procedures
  • Available to facilitate evening or weekend presentations as needed
  • Demonstrate professionalism while working in and representing the office/university. This includes having a neat, well-groomed appearance, appropriately using personal social media accounts, cell phones, and other electronic devices, and communicating professionally in-person, through email, and on the phone. 

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have at least 2.5 GPA
  • Any major interested in peer advising, helping professions and/or customer service roles
  • Willing to communicate with employers by email, phone, and face to face
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must have successfully completed one full semester at GC and have at least two more semesters remaining at time of application
