Assessment and Analytics Assistant: 2019-2020

All students are encouraged to apply, but students approved for Federal Work Study for Fall 2019 are preferred.

The Assessment and Analytics Assistant will work directly with the Director of the Career Center and closely with the Assistant Directors of Employer Relations and Internships and Career Development to implement processes to collect, analyze, and visualize data in order to better tell the story of the Career Center’s impact on GC students and employers. Position is up to 10 hours per week Monday - Friday, mid-August – May with time off during student breaks.

Assess how we are collecting data and research/identify ways to improve data collection, particularly during career fairs, after student appointments, following workshops/class presentations, and at the end of each semester for specific Milestone programming. Extract student career engagement data from Career Center database to compile and prepare for sending to the Registrar's Office to be coded in Banner; Review current evaluations for career fairs, student appointments, and workshops and work with director to make updates as needed in Qualtrics for the academic year; Input student career engagement data and survey data as well as events and codes for tracking involvement in Career Center database; Extract data from internal career services systems, Qualtrics, and Baseline to tell the story of our impact so that Career Center staff and leadership can analyze trends - Data includes student and employer evaluations, student use of Career Center, employer engagement in career fairs and other on campus recruiting activities, job postings, and internships; Assist with analyzing alumni data collected through Handshake and other means; Research best free and inexpensive software tools for data visualization and analysis, working with Career Center leadership team to determine and demonstrate best ways to use products for the department; Use data visualization software to create visuals of Career Center data, particularly for the Career Planning Milestones, career fairs, and alumni career outcomes data; Collaborate with student Marketing Assistant to develop infographics and other tools that tell the story of our impact in a way that students, faculty, and employers understand

Tangible projects would include:
o  Manage milestone tracking and communication with students, particularly seniors toward the end of each semester, including development of Got Hired/Got Into Grad School Campaign
o  Develop a report on graduate outcomes that provides both text and graphical representation of information
o  Develop a graphical report on how students are using the Career Center with a specific emphasis on the Milestones, using student data from AY2015, AY2016, AY2017, AY2018, and AY2019
o  Develop text and graphical report on employer engagement with the Career Center, with a priority on data from AY2015, AY2016, AY2017, AY2018, and AY2019
o  Work with Director and Employer Relations & Internship Team to update and implement new employer survey to generate data on ROI after visiting campus
o  Provide Career Center leadership team with instructions and template on how to compile reports in the future so that we can continue these projects with future interns
Qualifications
Open to all majors but may be of particular interest to those in Management Information Systems, Economics, Marketing, Psychology, and other majors focused on research and/or data analysis. Proficient in Excel, to include ability to create formulas, charts, graphs, and tables. Ideal candidate is most likely at the junior or senior level. Additional knowledge past academic or work experience using data visualization software to analyze data is highly desired, but knowledge and experience could be replaced with the technical proficiency and transferable skills to learn these skills. Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical information to supervisor. Ability to learn about industry specific database software quickly for the use of extracting data. Ability to work independently on projects but comfortable collaborating with other team members to receive feedback and finalize project details. Candidates who have used the Career Center and have an interest in sharing our mission and results with students are strongly encouraged to apply.
